Lamb Calls For More Time For Sale Of Holt's St John Hall

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 22nd Aug 2003

Liberal Democrat MP for North Norfolk, Norman Lamb, has written to the Properties Manager for Saint John Ambulance to ask if more time can be given for the sale of St John Hall, Holt. He has also written to the national Chief Commander of St John Ambulance.

Mr Lamb was recently contacted by Mr and Mrs Heathfield, who have plans to turn the hall into a museum.

Mr Lamb writes: "It would be a great shame if these plans were lost simply because they did not have sufficient time to explore funding opportunities. I should also mention that in order to secure funding from the Architectural Heritage Fund, they would have to form a charity and this also takes time. This could in itself take two to three months".

Norman Lamb has asked if there is any possibility of a delay of around six months "so that the museum project can be properly explored and funding opportunities pursued".

The closing date for tenders for the sale is currently Friday 12th September.
