Lamb Secures Community Transport Meeting With Head Of Countryside Agency

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 7th Aug 2003

The Liberal Democrat MP for North Norfolk, Norman Lamb, has secured an all-party meeting with the Chairman of the Countryside Agency, Sir Ewen Cameron, to discuss the future of community transport in Norfolk.

All Norfolk MPs are being invited to the meeting, a date for which is currently being arranged. This follows Mr Lamb's Adjournment Debate in the Commons last month on the subject of community transport, in which Ian Gibson and Keith Simpson also spoke, and a previous meeting between Norfolk MPs and representatives of the Community Transport Association.

Commenting, Norman Lamb said: "I am pleased to see that Sir Ewen Cameron agrees with the case for community transport, and that he recognises the importance and the challenge of moving from pump-priming money to the provision of sustainable funding.

"I cannot stress too often how important community transport is for people in many communities in Norfolk, and look forward to meeting with the Chairman of the Countryside Agency in order to discuss ways forward."
