Hauliers take Action on Speeding Lorries following Local Concerns5.28.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 8th Oct 2003 Norman Lamb, Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for North Norfolk, last month called for action to be taken on Lorry Traffic in Great Ryburgh, near Fakenham, associated with The Maltings. Mr Lamb said: "Local residents feel that the Crisp Malting Group's own lorries are generally very good at keeping to the speed limits and driving at a moderate speed through the village. The suggestion was that it was more the contractors' lorries that seem to be the worst offenders." Norman Lamb has since received responses from hauliers used by the Crisp Malting Group. Norman Lamb said: "I am encouraged by the response from the Crisp Malting Group and their hauliers. They are taking this issue seriously, and all parties involved are keen to maintain good relations with the local community. I hope that we will now see real improvements in the village." Mr Lamb also asked the County Council whether any further action could be taken to slow traffic down through the village. He has since been told that there is 'no justification to provide further measures or consider reducing the speed limit further'. Existing signs are to be inspected to see if further signs are needed.
