Norman Lamb, Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for North Norfolk, has arranged a meeting with local residents, campaigners, councillors and the Police following local concerns over the speed of traffic on Holway Road, Sheringham.
Norman Lamb said: "I am well aware of the dangers posed by traffic to children and parents when walking to school, and there are also a number of elderly people who regularly need to cross this dangerous road. Some of the measures taken in Cromer have made roads safer for pedestrians, and I would like to see more safety measures applied here."
Liberal Democrat County Councillor Brian Hannah added: "A lot of local people are concerned about the speed of traffic and the safety of schoolchildren who cross this road every day. I hope the County Council will listen to these concerns and act on them. We would welcome a decision to install a pedestrian crossing."
Councillor Hannah has been working with the 3 schools in Sheringham on a Safer Schools travel plan as part of a Government initiative to encourage school travel using means of transport other than the car.
