Lamb to host Summit to Promote Broadband in North Norfolk5.12.53pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 13th Apr 2004 Norman Lamb is organising a North Norfolk Broadband Summit after warning that the pace of introduction of new broadband technology to North Norfolk must increase if the area is to benefit from new technology. The summit of interested parties is likely to take place early this Summer. Norman Lamb said: "It is frustrating that it often seems to be the case that the remoter parts of the country are the last to benefit from new technologies like broadband, yet arguably we could benefit most from them. I hope that by bringing together individuals and businesses with an interest in broadband we can share ideas and look at new ways of promoting take up in North Norfolk." Mr Lamb added: "I would welcome both businesses and individuals interested in attending the broadband summit to get in contact with my office". BT and other Broadband providers will take part. The East of England Development Agency, Norfolk County Council, and Businesslink will all be invited. BT have set trigger levels for all parts of North Norfolk. When these levels have been met by people expressing an interest, BT will upgrade the exchange to allow for broadband access. Towns which have broadband: Cromer, Fakenham, Sheringham, North Walsham. Trigger levels have been reached in Holt, Overstrand, West Runton, Weybourne. Related Links:BT Broadband - register your interest to help Broadband in North Norfolk.
