Minister Agrees to Talks with District Council to Prepare for Future of Neatishead and Coltishall

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 7th Sep 2004

Following correspondence from Norman Lamb, the Ministry of Defence is to arrange a meeting to discuss potential alternative uses of the RAF Neatishead and Coltishall sites.

"I am very pleased that the MoD have responded quickly to local concerns," said Mr Lamb. "The Minister acknowledges the importance of avoiding the situation that has developed at RAF West Raynham, and so there must be some hope of agreeing a planning brief for the sites."

Mr Lamb has sent a copy of the letter from the MoD confirming their intent to work closely with local authorities to mitigate the effects of closure to both North Norfolk District Council and Norfolk County Council.
