North Norfolk Orthopaedic Surgery Waiting Lists- Longest in Country.

11.33.23am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 10th Sep 2004

A government league table has put North Norfolk top of the list for longest waits in the country for orthopaedic surgery. Four of Norfolk's Primary Care Trusts (PCT) are listed in the 10 worst of the country's 303.

"We have four of the worst 10 PCTs in the country in terms of orthopaedic waits and it is no co-incidence that they are served by the Norfolk & Norwich," said Norman Lamb, Liberal Democrat MP for North Norfolk.

"If you live in Cromer, you face the longest wait in the country, while in King's Lynn your wait is the average time. The Norfolk & Norwich orthopaedic department does excellent work, but there has been a historic waiting list bulge at the hospital."

Notes: North Norfolk PCT is top of the waiting times list, with Norwich in fourth place, South Norfolk 6th, and Broadland PCT 8th.
