Lamb secures Parliamentary debate on Rebecca House

8.17.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 27th Oct 2004

Norman Lamb, Liberal Democrat MP for North Norfolk, has secured an adjournment debate on Rebecca House and the future of services for people with dementia.

"I am very pleased that we have the opportunity to discuss this issue in Parliament," said Mr Lamb. "The issue of Rebecca House has raised many questions over the provision of services for people with dementia, and I welcome the opportunity to highlight the situation here in Norfolk. I hope that with the support of Ministers, a local solution can be found.

"It is very important that all options for Rebecca House are explored, including possible funding opportunities from other organisations. My clear objective is to find ways of keeping it open."

A new 28-bed unit is planned for Norwich to replace five units with 101 beds across Norfolk, including Rebecca House.
