Norman Lamb, MP for North Norfolk and the Liberal Democrat's Trade and Industry spokesperson, is calling on local organisations to enter the Edge Employer Awards, which recognises organisations that provide excellent practical learning opportunities for young people.

"I am delighted that local organisations who are leading the way in offering practical learning for young people will have the opportunity to get the recognition that they deserve," said Mr Lamb. "All employers will see how investment in on-the-job training and work experience can improve the talents of employees."

The Edge Employer Awards will award four organisations in the East of England regional awards, with the chance to win up to £10,000 to be re-invested in work related learning such as work placements and apprenticeships, for 14 - 25 year olds. Winners of the regional Awards will be shortlisted for the national finals with a top reward of £200,000.

To enter, organisations will need to demonstrate how they already offer excellent learning-by-doing opportunities, and explain their ambitions for the future.

Deadline for entries is Friday 15 July. For further information and to enter the awards, go to www.edgeawards.co.uk, call 0800 980 3343, or email info@edgeawards.co.uk
