Lamb expresses concerns to County Council planners over West Runton bridge

7.40.49pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 11th Jul 2005

Norman Lamb has written to Norfolk County Council expressing his concerns over the Highway Department's plan to send pedestrians over a roadbridge at the railway track in West Runton, rather than creating a separate footbridge for pedestrian use.

"I very much share concerns of local people over these proposals," said Mr Lamb. "There are already problems with the traffic flow in West Runton and that anxiety is being expressed by residents about the possible risk to users of the road bridge, which would include cyclists and children."

"The decision not to build a separate footbridge flies in the face of the views expressed by villagers during a recent public consultation. I have written to ask the County Council why it has decided to abandon the idea of a separate footbridge, and whether the Council can review the plan in the light of the opposition which it has received."
