Committee pans N&N deal.

The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Edward Leigh yesterday condemned the defence of "the unacceptable face of capitalism in the public sector" by officials in a debate that was scathing of the private financing deal for the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. The powerful House of Commons Committee debated a report on the controversial PFI deal that was written as a direct result of Liberal Democrat Norman Lamb's complaint to the National

Audit Office over the costs of the hospital.

"I am pleased that the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee has reinforced everything that I have argued over the last 2 years on this deal," said North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb.

"I am now calling on the Government to make a one-off payment to help clear the massive deficit of Norfolk's health service."
