Following questions to the Environment Agency, Liberal Democrat MP Norman Lamb has learnt of the disturbing pollution record of Anglian Water.

"Anglian Water are the only company in the industry to see an increase in major pollution incidents since 2004," says Norman Lamb. "The number of significant incidents has risen almost every year since 1999."

In 2004, Anglian Water recorded the second highest number of relatively minor incidents of water pollution in the country.

"Anglian Water has been fined over half a million pounds during the last six years," says Norman Lamb. "There are obviously huge improvements that still need to be made by the company."

Mr Lamb wrote to the Environment Agency following concerns raised in a circular issued by the agency to MPs which identified Anglian Water as a company in need of improvement.
