BNFL Westinghouse sale must not be driven by Treasury black hole says Norman Lamb

12.00.00am GMT Mon 6th Feb 2006

In his capacity as Liberal Democrat Shadow DTI Secretary, Norman Lamb responded to the written statement from Alan Johnson today regarding the sale of BNFL Westinghouse to Toshiba.

"We must question if it makes strategic sense to sell Westinghouse now," Mr Lamb said. "I'm concerned that it looks as if this sale is driven more by a need to fill the black hole in the Chancellor's finances rather than by good objective reasons."
