HIGHER SALARIES FOR GPs MUST BRING RESPONSIBILITY - LAMB

4.35.08pm GMT Wed 31st Oct 2007

Commenting on figures showing that average GP pay has risen by 10% in the last year, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary, Norman Lamb MP said: "GPs should be well paid, but as a consequence patients must be able to get a high standard of out of hours care, which is currently dangerously patchy."

"The extra money brings with it responsibility for GPs to help negotiate a solution to unacceptable standards of emergency care and look at the case for more round the clock services."
