Lamb Worried by Growing Obesity Figures

12.00.00am GMT Mon 15th Dec 2008

Figures released nationally are showing a growth in obesity amongst children. North Norfolk MP and Liberal Democrat health spokesman Norman Lamb said: "It is horrifying that one in three children are overweight or obese by the time they leave primary school.

"The costs and impact of obesity, both for individuals and the health service are enormous. The NHS ultimately faces bankruptcy if we fail on this. Effective action to tackle obesity is long overdue."

Norman Lamb has long campaigned that obesity would become a major strain on the NHS as the current generation of children mature.
