Lamb Concerned Over the Christmas Strain on the N&N University Hospital

12.00.00am GMT Tue 16th Dec 2008

Norman Lamb MP, has once again called on the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to deal with the issue of bed blocking. The North Norfolk MP has long campaigned for further enquiries in to the issue of bed blocking, which entails patients being kept in beds despite the fact they are fit enough to be discharged.

"How much longer can this go on? We saw some improvements which we were very pleased about after the inquiry but now the problem has got worse again. There needs to be some immediate improvements and I am concerned what is going to happen over the Christmas period."

Almost 60 beds are currently being blocked at the hospital and Mr Lamb fears that the pressure of the holiday period may push this number upwards.
