Lamb questions cancelled operations at Norfolk and Norwich

Norman Lamb has questioned why over 400 operations were cancelled for non- clinical reasons in a six-month period at Norfolk's biggest hospital, the N&N.
North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb said: "The bottom line is, I know hospital managers are not happy with the number of cancelled operations.
"It might be a small percentage overall, but it is a big deal for every patient this happens to and very traumatic. Unfortunately, this is what happens when a hospital is nearly always full. It is stretched to the seams and operates under such intense pressure all the time.
"The system is under intolerable strain and the pressures are only likely to get worse."
On one day alone last month, 35 operations were cancelled as a result of emergency demand, and emergency admissions in October were up by more than 13pc on the same time last year.
